“My goal coming over to North America is to play in the NHL. I think now I’m on a team that does that. I can just go day by day, try to do my best and we’ll go from there.” After that, Hellberg spent five years in the KHL, the highlight year being 2018-19 with St. Petersburg, when he went 24-7-3, with a stingy 1.32 goals against average and .940 save percentage.
Senators coach D.J. Smith isn’t sure what he’s got on the ice in Hellberg just yet, but he’s already a fan of his attitude.
