It’s $11.79 million more than Amina Maryam earns for getting groceries out to Canadians, many of whom are new to the country and can’t handle spiking food costs. The new resident to Canada, who arrived a year ago from Pakistan, volunteers daily at the Fort York Food Bank at 380 College St.“We want to help and we want to give back,” said Maryam.

The school teacher by trade, who is taking night courses in Toronto, and her retired small businessman father say they have no choice but use the food supplied at Fort York but they want to make sure they do their part by packing boxes and serving others similarly in need.
