From joe_warmington: Mayor Olivia Chow sent a statement on the killing of K9 Bingo to the Sun after a request. Her lack of public response has upset the Toronto Police Association
If you look at Chow’s Twitter accounts, you will see this past week she has attended events for the Caribbean and Filipino communities, went to Distillery District and Bloor West Village events, and posted that her “motion passed to declare gender-based violence and intimate partner violence and epidemic.
But the biggest wounds in this are what was done to the trust and relationship between the mayor’s office and the street cops.Mostly there is no understanding by some in the defund the police movement of the significance of what transpired in this shooting incident. Toronto Police lost a valued and loved member of their team when Bingo was murdered and almost lost his partner, Sgt. Brandon Smith, as well.
The mayor’s office later Thursday did provide a statement to the Toronto Sun on this matter and make an attempt to put the toothpaste back in the tube.
