Warm air from the southern U.S. is causing temperatures in Thunder Bay to rise to near-record levels. Environment Canada predicts a high of 13 C, just shy of the current record of 14.3 C. Meteorologist Steven Flisfeder says a new high temperature mark for March 11 is possible. The warm weather is expected to continue throughout the week before temperatures return to normal by the weekend.

Warm air from the southern U.S. will push temperatures up to near-record territory in the Thunder Bay area today. Environment Canada predicts a high of 13 C, a full 14 degrees above normal, and just shy of the current record of 14.3 C, set in 2007. Meteorologist Steven Flisfeder said "It's a low probability, but not impossible," that a new high temperature mark for March 11 will be established. The maximum is also predicted to hit double digits (10 C) on Tuesday.

"Pretty much the entirety of the province is going through a warm stretch this week. A lot of warm, moist air coming up from the southern US, and not really any low pressure systems making their way through the area," Flisfeder said. Temperatures at Thunder Bay are expected to fall toward normal values by Thursday and through the weekend
