The Comelec has received a massive 4.7 million applications for voter registration from Oct. 20, 2025, to May 9 this year, making it one of the biggest voter registration campaigns in history. Voter registration ends on May 21, and the voting for the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) is set for Nov. 2. The election period, the official campaign period, and the gun ban have been outlined.
The Commission on Elections ( Comelec ) has received at least 4,740,551 applications for voter registration from Oct. 20, 2025, when the registration started, up to May 9 this year, According to the latest data from the poll body, Filipinos planning to vote in the upcoming Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) only have until May 18 to register by going to the nearest Comelec office or designated satellite registration sites nationwide.
The registration of voters ends on Monday, and it will be followed by the filing of certificates of candidacy set from Sept. 28 until Oct. 5. The election period will run from Oct. 3 to Nov. 9 and will cover the prescribed periods on the usual gun ban and other prohibitions. The official campaign period will run from Oct. 22 to Oct. 31.
The BSKE is scheduled for Nov. 2, Monday, and it is intended to increase from the previous three-year term, the term of elected officials under the new law. Elected officials are set to assume office on Dec. 1. Efforts continue to encourage the registration of new voters, with the church-based Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting urging Filipinos who are not yet registered voters to list up, reminding prospective voters to bring valid identification documents to ensure smooth voting
