The Historical Association of Annapolis Royal and students from Annapolis West Education Centre are joining the project to help restore the headstones. Growth, including moss and lichen, covers the remaining headstones. Centuries of freezing and thawing of moisture in the porous rock has damaged the surfaces of most grave markers, some to the extent that the inscriptions are unreadable.
