Biggest multi-sport event ever in Atlantic Canada expected to bring more than $20 million in economic benefits

Brendon Smithson, CEO for the NAIG Host Society, said it’s not surprising there isn’t a lot of buzz locally yet about this massive event that will take over the city this summer. The games were postponed in 2020, so the last time these games were held was in 2017 in Toronto. It’s a shame for some athletes who have aged out of the competition because of the pandemic-related delay, Smithson said. But it’s been positive in the fact that they’ve had an extra two years to plan.
