Early counting is pointing to a bleak night for the Yes campaign and Prime Minister Anthony Albanese with the Yes vote struggling. Follow updates here.

No campaigner Warren Mundine has arrived for his campaign’s event in Brisbane, heading upstairs to meet with volunteers. Speaking to media in the lobby of the hotel, Mundine described himself as like “a nervous husband at the birth of a child”. “The numbers are looking good at the moment but they are tiny, tiny counts.” Mundine said the event tonight would be a more muted celebration than the usual election festivities.

“What we are doing here is not about celebrating ...because when the numbers are finalised tonight we have to get up tomorrow morning and we all have to work together. “Mundine says the No campaign chose to hold tonight’s event in Brisbane due to security threats made against the campaigners, with the Queensland capital deemed the safest venue for the event.
