In contrast, domestic passenger numbers were only up five per cent on March 2023, growing to 2,093,882 travellers. "While domestic travel remains constrained by reduced capacity and subsequent higher airfares, it's unlikely we'll see a full recovery in the local market in the near future. March also saw the long-awaited arrival of Turkish Airlines in Australia, with the carrier launching Melbourne-Singapore-Istanbul services, boosting international flight options out of the Victorian capital.
