When officers arrived at the house, they found a body, believed to be that of a 62-year-old man, in the backyard. 9News

were called to a home on Lillian Crescent in Ashmore around 8.45am on Sunday for a welfare check.READ MORE:Police immediately declared a crime scene and detectives launched a homicide investigation.

After inquiries, a 36-year-old Victorian man was found inside a vehicle of interest on Southport Nerang Road in Molendinar just before 1pm.READ MORE:The man will face Southport Magistrates Court today. "Specialist scientific and forensic officers are in attendance conducting examinations," Queensland Police said."A mobile police facility has been deployed to the scene to assist investigations."

Police are asking anyone with information or CCTV of the area from overnight or this morning to come forward.Continue reading
