Sky News Victorian Political Report Simon Love has revealed the Victorian Liberal Party’s candidate in the race for lord mayor. Mr Love said multiple party sources have confirmed Mariam Riza as the candidate. “Ms Riza is so far not responded to Sky News’ request for comment,” he said.

Multiple party sources have confirmed Mariam Riza, who is a business strategist and also former state government public servant will be announced as the Liberal candidate for Lord Mayor of the City of Melbourne.Sky News can also reveal the party will have Luke Martin run as Deputy Lord Mayor on its council ticket.When contacted by Sky News, a spokesperson for the Victoria Liberal party confirmed it had endorsed candidates for the mayoral race.
The race for Lord Mayor of Melbourne is a hotly contested one with incumbent Lord Mayor Nicholas Reece joining forces with former Liberal candidate for the federal electorate of Aston, Roshena Campbell.Weeks ago, Mr Wood had received comments of support from state liberal leader John Pesutto, although the Opposition Leader also foreshadowed the candidate decision by the Liberal Party.
