Victorian Liberal candidate Nicole Werner has claimed a decisive victory in the Warrandyte by-election.

Ms Werner had secured 57.76 per cent of the primary vote late on Saturday night, all but ensuring she would claim the seat held by outgoing Liberal MP Ryan Smith.

Picture: Mark Stewart With more than 60 per cent of the vote counted, she held a massive 70.56 per cent to 29.44 per cent lead over Mr Lightbody on a two-party preferred basis.

Labour DLP candidate Cary De Wit held 6.04 per cent of the vote, independent Maya Tesa 4.12 per cent and Victorian Socialists candidate Colleen Bolger 4.06 per cent late on Saturday.Ms Werner, a former charity worker, youth pastor and staffer for Senator Jane Hume, told supporters she was"absolutely overwhelmed with gratitude" to serve as the member for Warrandyte as she claimed victory.
