Instead, Victorians will be able to partake in activities that exhibit "respectful reflection, togetherness and inclusion" on 26 January. There will still be a 21-gun salute at the Shrine of Remembrance and a flag-raising ceremony at Government House, along with an aerial show. In contrast, 'Invasion Day' rallies have been gaining traction in recent years. Thousands of First Nations people and allies use the protests that will be held in Melbourne and around the country to commemorate 26 January as a day of mourning and survival.
