Nationals MP Darren Chester says he is alarmed at the lack of prescribed fuel-reduction burning inside Victoria’s forests and national parks. \n\nMr Chester has called on more to be done with backburning and fuel reduction for wildfires as it remains the only aspect which can be controlled in the environment. \n\n“What really concerns me is we live in an area where we know we are going to get hot days,” Mr Chester told Sky News Australia. \n\n“There is going to be points of ignition whether it is accidents or lightning. \n\n“The only thing we can actually control when it comes to wildfires is the fuel load.” \n
