The State Emergency Service received 978 requests for assistance in Victoria across 24 hours, primarily in Rochester, Maribyrnong and Shepparton.
There were 265 technical rescues completed across the 24-hour period up to 7.30am Saturday, primarily water rescues and search efforts for missing people.Luis Enrique AscuiWhile early estimates suggest at least 500 properties have been flooded in total across Victoria, an SES spokeswoman said aerial assessments continue and we may not have details of exactly how many homes were inundated until tomorrow morning.
The village in Victoria’s north sits on the Goulburn River, which is currently at 11.53 metres according to the Bureau of Meteorology and is still rising. The river is predicted to peak at 12 metres on Saturday afternoon.Residents of Shepparton, Mooroopna, Orrvale and Kialla West have been told to prepare to evacuate due to the threat from the Goulburn.
A relief centre has been opened at Wycheproof P-12 College on McKenzie Crescent, Wycheproof.
