We Love Willowdale, a community organization that came together after the tragedy, is one of the commemoration’ host groups that also include Yonge Street Tragedy Steering Committee, North York Arts and Neighbourlink North York, as well as Cheng’s office. Following the concert and speeches, the commemoration will at 4 p.m. move across Yonge Street to Mel Lastman Square where the North York Arts organization will help attendees make paper boats to float in the square’s reflection pool. Afterward, there will be refreshments donated by restaurants and an opportunity for people to meet and share their stories.
