A volunteer from an animal shelter in Davao City was allegedly assaulted by a staff member of Maguindanao del Sur Vice Governor Nathaniel Midtimbang following a dispute over road access. The incident sparked outrage on social media and led to a public apology from the politician.
THE Davao City Police Office confirmed a physical altercation on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, involving a staff member of an animal shelter and security personnel of Maguindanao del Sur Vice Governor Nathaniel Midtimbang outside the latter’s residence in Davao City .
In a video posted the same day, the shelter explained that several of the politician’s men had been blocking their dog walkers from using the road outside their newly built property. One of the dog rescuers was even assaulted after confronting the men..The incident quickly went viral on Facebook, but the shelter later deleted the videos. The situation was resolved when Vice Governor Midtimbang personally met with the group and apologized for his security personnel’s actions.
