People generally agree it would be good to have more of all of them, although there is a concern about costs. Each of these services has a different responsibility in dealing with any emergency, including a mental health emergency. Emergency medical services do not secure the scene. They work within the scene, after it has been secured by police and fire services, beginning initial medical treatment of any injured person.
If a person experiencing a mental health crisis poses a threat to the public, the police have to secure the scene before any other agency assigned to the crisis can do their work.
