A large sinkhole has opened up on a street in a popular Gold Coast suburb, pulling one car down with it in the early hours of Thursday morning.
It is unknown when the sinkhole opened up however emergency services were told about the hole on Short Street, Southport, about 4am on Thursday.
The silver sedan has fallen in front first with its back wheels resting on the edge of the hole which appears rather deep, with the entire bonnet unseen in images.Emergency services were called to Short Street, Southport, on the Gold Coast on Thursday morning following reports of a gaping hole in the road.The extent of the damage to the car is yet to be assessed.Early investigations indicate it was potentially caused by a burst water main. Firefighters cleared any risk in the area of a gas leak.
