We called on LydiaOkello, a Vancouver-based model and writer to tell us the best spots in the city— from a Nordic-inspired spa to the perfect place for plus-size fashion.
“Iona Beach Regional Park was actually a bit of a mystery to me — I didn’t visit this spot until almost a decade into living in Vancouver. It’s a huge park with a massive jetty, tons of wildlife and varied landscape. The jetty makes for a long and scenic walk, stretching 4 km in one direction or 8 km round trip. My favourite time of day to come is twilight; there are several unbelievably purple sunsets I witnessed that will live in my memory forever.
“Vancouver is a city known for its sushi: we’re blessed with our proximity to the Pacific Ocean and access to incredible seafood as well as a vibrant Japanese food scene. One of my favourite spots is the seemingly unassuming Carp Sushi + Bowl in Mount Pleasant. With a variety of curries, rolls and bowls, the flavours are unique and really memorable.
