WorkSafeBC is investigating the death of a film and television worker near Britannia Beach, south of Squamish.
WorkSafeBC spokeswoman Gillian Burnett told Postmedia News that the agency was notified at 4:53 p.m. on March 10 “about a fatal incident that happened on a Forest Service Road south of Britannia Beach. “He was doing what he loved, working outside. Ironic to all he was not 200 feet up a fir tree with a chainsaw, or deep sea diving with sharks,” the Gofundme post stated.Koel was a member of IATSE Local 891, which represents 8,000 technical and artistic people working in B.C.’s film and television industry.
