Vancouver Canucks re-sign J.T. Miller to seven-year, $56-million deal
The deal will pay Miller an AAV of $8-million. Reports out of Vancouver had suggested that the Canucks were tepid on the term of a deal with Miller, but it’s clear those feelings changed.
Miller, 29, joined the Canucks in a June 22, 2019 deal that saw them trade a 2020 first-round pick, 2019 third-round pick and Marek Mazanec to the Tampa Bay Lightning in exchange for the forward. Since then, all Miller has done is produce. In the 2019-20 season, Miller’s first with the Canucks, he scored career highs in goals and points .
Miller’s new deal places him as one of the most valuable players in terms of average salary, as well as the most expensive player on the Vancouver Canucks’ roster. The signing signals from the Canucks organization its commitment under new GM Patrik Allvin to becoming a better team and one that can compete in a Pacific Division that could very well be wide open this season.
