UPDATE: Police searched more than 120 people for knives and seized one weapon in Brisbane’s party precincts before three men were allegedly stabbed by a balaclava-clad group in Fortitude Valley on Sunday.

Police searched more than 120 people for knives and seized one weapon in Brisbane’s party precincts before three men were allegedly stabbed in separate incidents by a balaclava-clad group in Fortitude Valley on Sunday.

The masked group allegedly set out to rob people as they left Fortitude Valley pubs and clubs in the early hours of Sunday morning. The man who went to the station was still being treated on Monday and had suffered a collapsed lung. A second victim was also undergoing treatment for a lacerated liver, which Detective Superintendent Andrew Massingham said could have been far more serious if emergency services had not arrived at the time they did.

The group were from west of Brisbane, Massingham said, and they were spending several nights in the Valley. Massingham said there would be an increase in police presence this coming weekend in Safe Night Precincts.
