US President Joe Biden has made a surprise visit to Kyiv to meet President Volodymyr Zelensky just before the first anniversary of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
The visit was conducted covertly because of security concerns, with Biden departing Washington without notice after he and his wife had a rare dinner out at a restaurant on Saturday night.s reported that Biden made the secret visit after arriving on a train from the Polish border. “When Putin launched his invasion nearly one year ago, he thought Ukraine was weak and the West was divided. He thought he could outlast us. But he was dead wrong.”
