Vice president Kamala Harris has chosen Tim Walz as her running mate in the hope of winning over male voters.
chose Minnesota governor Tim Walz as her running mate, bypassing other potential candidates who offered the promise of securing crucial swing states on November 5.with Mr Walz’s progressive views seen as a doubling down of the vice president’s agenda on everything from abortion to immigration, gun control and funding for sex changes.
Walz, who rose to the rank of command sergeant major in the Army National Guard and later worked as a school teacher in China and a Native American reservation is better known in his home state than the national stage despite attracting publicity for his handling of the upheaval that followed the 2020 death of George Floyd.
Republicans were immediately on the attack over the selection. Trump said Walz would “unleash hell on earth and open our borders to the worst criminals imaginable,” while also “rubber stamp Kamala’s green new scam and light trillions of dollars on fire.” However, she still lags behind the former president in battleground states such as Pennsylvania, having been hurt there by issues such as energy costs, economics and immigration.
