Uploading obscene content offence under Communications, Multimedia Act, says Teo

Communications and Digital Deputy Minister Teo Nie Ching advised all parties to be more careful when uploading or sharing any content on social media. “If someone uploads such content through social media, he or she can be investigated under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act,” she told reporters after a breaking fast event at Felda Bukit Batu community hall in Kulai today.

Teo, who is also Kulai MP, said that the ministry through the Communications and Multimedia Commission would cooperate with the Royal Malaysia Police to identify individuals who upload inappropriate content.
