The University of the Philippines and the University of Santo Tomas both slipped in the latest world rankings by the United Kingdom-based group, Quacquarelli Symonds (QS). Read more:
In the 2022 rankings, the state university dropped to 399th from last year’s 396th spot. But UP still remains as the top university in the country.Ateneo de Manila University and De La Salle University, the other “Big Four” universities in the country, maintained their brackets, 601-650 and 801-1,000, respectively.
The latest rankings featured 1,300 universities worldwide. They were evaluated based on the following metrics: academic reputation ; employer reputation ; faculty/student ratio ; citations per faculty ; international faculty ratio ; and international student ratio .Meanwhile, the University of Oxford in UK came in second, a leap from fifth spot last year.Harvard University, on the other hand, fell out of top three, ranking fifth worldwide this time.
