Burnaby's year-to-date illicit drug overdose toll has reached 25 — 43 per cent fewer than at this point last year.

Toxic, unregulated drugs in B.C. have led to two more deaths among Burnaby's community from the month of August.

The number is down 43 per cent from this time in 2022 when 44 local residents died of toxic drug supply. 'Heartbreaking' Burnaby's year-to-date total is also part of 116 illicit drug overdose deaths recorded across the Fraser North health service delivery area since Jan. 1, 2023.
