Alex Shorey, 24, has been in hospital in Taiwan for weeks, but has had adverse reactions to certain treatments. His family says a medical evacuation flight has been secured and he will soon be back on Australian soil.
abc.net.au/news/alex-shorey-medical-evacuation-after-ingesting-rat-poison/102282500The family of a University of Queensland student who ingested rat poison while on exchange in Taiwan say he is now booked on a medical evacuation flight to come home.
Ms Shorey-Kitson said planning was underway with Gold Coast-based company Medical Rescue to get Alex home. "He may come into Brisbane first and then the team from Sydney may come up here — it's a moving feast at the moment," she said."This was the biggest nightmare for us and he's not out of the woods yet," she said.
"We'll know more about what this might look like once we have the final medical and repatriations bills," she said.
