A lecturer in the Department of History, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State, Dr Saheed Amusa, has linked under-development in countries across the African continent to forces outside its shores.
He said, “Africa is blessed by everything that anyone needs to be great in life. It has everything that one can have and should have. The only thing that Africa lacks is ‘development’ and her inability to develop is due to external invaders and controllers. Everything about Africa was and is being determined from outside Africa.
“If we look at contemporary Africa, we will see that everything about Africa is foreign-induced and externally driven and controlled. We are producing what we do not consume and consuming what we do not produce. We are the peripheral of the global capitalist economy controlled by the West. “From the foregoing, we can conclude that Africa has suffered great foreign incursions which have continued to affect its social, economic, and political trajectories over the ages.”All rights reserved.
