KUALA LUMPUR, April 18 — The unlikely political alliance between Pakatan Harapan and Barisan Nasional in forming the government is not necessarily doomed to end, Umno Youth chief Dr Akmal Saleh said, contrary to what sceptics including those from his own party believe.

"Now that the government has been formed, both parties are obliged to ensure it will help the public and avoid as much politicking as possible.Former prime minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob was yesterday reported to have described the PH-BN alliance as a"forced marriage" that would not last. “People are resigned to the fact that cooperation between PH and Umno is necessary, but with one caveat – that the Umno leaders in the government must face the rule of law and justice without fear and favour,” Hassan was quoted as saying.

"Our work in nation-building is more important than 'love' or 'marriage' between two parties," he was quoted as saying.
