KUALA LUMPUR: Pahang Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail and former Johor menteri besar Datuk Seri Hasni Mohammad have thrown their hats into the ring for the three Umno vice-president posts in the party’s upcoming elections.
Hasni and Wan Rosdy confirmed that they had submitted their nomination forms at the party's headquarters on Friday via posts on their respective Facebook pages.
Apart from the two, Umno supreme council member Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani is another new face who has confirmed his participation in the contest for the vice-president posts so far. The incumbents are former prime minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob; former rural development minister Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid; and Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin.
Khaled and Mahdzir have announced that they would be seeking re-election, while Ismail Sabri has not yet expressed his position on the matter. Elections for positions in the party's Wanita, Youth and Puteri wings will be held on March 11, while contests for the divisional committee posts, vice presidency and Supreme Council posts will be held on March 18. - Bernama
