The war-torn nation's energy operator has warned millions of Ukrainian residents there will be emergency shutdowns after Russia launched dozens of strikes at critical facilities and cities.

Air raid alarms sounded to warn residents in the capital of Kyiv where three of the 40 missiles that dodged defence systems then landed.The city administration later described the incident as"one of the biggest rocket attacks" it has faced since Russia's invasion almost 10 months ago. Kharkiv, the second biggest city in Ukraine, is reportedly without power, heating or water due to the"colossal damage" it suffered, Mayor Ihor Terekhov said."I ask you to be patient with what is happening now. I know that in your houses there is no light, no heating, no water supply."Russian President Vladimir Putin has continued to order his troops to launch missile attacks to cripple Ukraine's critical infrastructure while it shivers through winter.
