“By commemorating Uganda's independence with a flag-raising event at City Hall in Charlottetown, we are raising awareness about our country’s history as a former British colony and its progress towards self-rule," said Henry Luyombya, the chief visionary officer of NAC, adding he hoped the event will prompt residents to engage in learning more Ugandan culture, encourage tourism both ways and foster a spirit of unity among all communities.

"This shows our commitment to engaging every diverse community in Charlottetown," Brown said about events like the flag-raising."We are grateful to the New African Canadians for engaging communities on mental health issues, and creating a sense of belonging for newcomers."
