He alleges Mujahid made a number of defamatory comments regarding him and his construction business including that they should not be trusted, that Zamman was a traitor to the Pakistani community, and that his company was not reputable.“The defamatory statements were false and harmful to the plaintiff’s reputation,” reads his statement of claim.
“They were made by Mujahid with the knowledge that they were false or with reckless or careless disregard as to whether they were true or not.” In his filed statement of defence, Mujahid called the claim “frivolous and motivated,” stated Zamman was relying on hearsay, and denied making the alleged defamatory statements.Article contentMujahid is seeking the dismissal of the lawsuit and for Zamman to cover all court costs.The party says that consultations will take place with local constituency officials and a new candidate will be appointed.
