The fire was caused by a pot left on a stove and generated a considerable amount of smoke.

Two residents of a suite that had a kitchen fire Tuesday morning were treated in hospital for smoke inhalation, says Esquimalt Fire Chief Steve Serbic.

Fire crews were called to an apartment building at 464 Lampson St. about 9:55 a.m. and arrived to find that the two residents had already extinguished the blaze. Serbic said the fire was caused by a pot left on a stove and generated a considerable amount of smoke.“Everybody was allowed back in once the smoke was cleared,” Serbic said.
