Police around Australia are grieving the loss of two constables in their 20s after they were murdered in rural QLD last night. Constable Matthew Arnold, 26, and Constable Rachel McCrow, 29, had only recently begun their policing careers. 9News MORE:
Queensland Police said Constable Matthew Arnold and Constable Rachel McCrow were shot dead "in the line of duty" at Wieambilla in the Western Downs.
He was understood to have been in contact with people in that time, but that communication ceased in recent days. Constable Randall Kirk suffered a bullet graze and was taken to hospital, and Constable Keeley Brough, who joined the police force only nine weeks ago, managed to escape.Police confirmed about 2am local time that a further two men and a woman had later been killed in a confrontation with more officers shortly after 10.30pm.Police have lifted the exclusion zone in the area."The fact that two got out alive is a miracle," she said.
"They bravely did what they could to save their colleagues in the most horrendous circumstances," Carroll said.'This was a pure execution' "They were executed by these remorseless, ruthless killers, showed no respect or any feelings for anyone at all.
