Resource enforcement officers in Wabush responded to multiple public complaints of overfishing and seized over 30 pounds of filleted salmon on Aug. 4. - FileWABUSH, N.L. — Two people have been charged under the Newfoundland and Labrador fishery regulations after more than 30 pounds of filleted salmon was seized near Emeril Railway Station.
On Aug. 4, resource enforcement officers from the Wabush Fisheries, Forestry and Agriculture detachment were called to the Menihek Dam vicinity after multiple public complaints of people overfishing.A resident of Middle Arm is facing charges related to the alteration of fish and exceeding the possession limit.Both individuals are scheduled to appear in Wabush provincial court at a later date.
The public is encouraged to report suspected illegal fishing and hunting activity and can do so anonymously at any time by calling 1-877-820-0999 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
