Two men have died when the helicopters they were piloting collided in the West Kimberley district of Western Australia, with experts from across the country deployed to investigate the tragedy. The Robinson R22 helicopters took off just before 6.20am on Thursday to carry out mustering work but crashed soon after near Mount Anderson Station in Camballin.
Two killed as helicopters collide in WA. Both pilots, a 29-year-old man and a 30-year-old man, were killed. They were the only people in the respective helicopters. Two other helicopters also taking off at the same time avoided the crash. Emergency services scrambled from Broome, 240km west of Camballin, and several other locations in the region to get to the crash site. The Australian Transport Safety Bureau has sent investigators from Perth, Canberra and Brisbane to probe the incident.
