Two professional fishermen whose bodies were found in waters off Kangaroo Island have been identified. David Neave and Rodney Ingram, both aged 65, were found near their overturned boat at Cassini on the north coast of Kangaroo Island on Wednesday night. Police were called and started a search earlier in the day when the pair’s boat was found capsized. The men were locals from Kingscote and had long family histories in the town.
“It’s a sad feeling across the island today … all we can do is assist those families as much as possible,” Kangaroo Island Mayor Michael Pengilly said. “The guy driving the boat knows those waters like the back of his hand … so it’s just something that’s gone terribly wrong and the outcome is tragic.” Local said thick fog blanketed the area on Wednesday afternoon and may have contributed to the accident.
