A lorry driver has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving
Emergency services races to the scene after reports of a major collision on the westbound carriageway of the M62 yesterday morning . The tragic incident happened at around 5.30am and the motorway was closed throughout the day.
Firefighters worked to rescue people trapped at the scene and later confirmed that two men who were travelling in the car tragically died. The men's next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.The driver of the car was rushed to hospital from the scene with serious injuries. The driver of one of the two lorries, a 61-year-old man, has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
The carriageway was closed between junction 9 and junction 7 while emergency services worked at the scene and reopened later on Thursday evening. Fire crews as well as paramedics, police and Highways Officers remained at the scene throughout the day.
