Two young boys, aged 5 and 6, were tragically struck by a taxi while playing in the middle of the road in Barangay 187 in Tala, North Caloocan, on Thursday. The incident resulted in the death of one of the boys, identified as Ismael. According to a report on '24 Oras', the boys were cousins and were playing near Dalia Street when the taxi driver attempted to make a turn. CCTV footage shows the driver signaling for the children to move, and a girl warning them to get off the road.
However, before the boys could react, the taxi suddenly moved forward, running them over. The driver stopped but did not immediately reverse, leaving the victims trapped under the front wheels. While Ismael's cousin, JC, managed to crawl out, Ismael was critically injured and later died at the hospital. The parents of the boys were inside their home repairing a washing machine at the time of the incident. They have since spoken to the taxi driver
