JOHOR BARU: The government will need to amend two Acts in order to increase the current RM1,000 compound imposed on violators of the recovery movement control order (MCO), says Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
The Senior Minister said that besides amending the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988 , the government would also need to amend the Interpretation Act.
“Amending the two Acts to increase the compound amount will require some extensive study first before it can be brought to Parliament to debate where it needs to be passed. On Saturday , Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba said the decision to increase the compound imposed on MCO violators from the current RM1,000 would need to be discussed in the next Parliament meeting.
