Twitter had initially launched the Twitter Blue early in November before pausing it as fake accounts mushroomed.
Elon Musk, who took Twitter private for $US44 billion in November had in a series of tweets last month listed various grievances with Apple, including the 30 per cent fee the iPhone maker charges software developers for in-app purchases.
However, after a subsequent meeting with Apple chief executive Tim Cook, he tweeted that the misunderstanding about Twitter being removed from Apple’s app store was resolved.Meanwhile, Reuters revealed over the weekend that Twitter Inc will roll out new controls as soon as next week to let companies prevent their ads from appearing above or below tweets containing certain keywords, the social media platform told advertisers in an email on Thursday.

Twitter before Musk was ‘devoted to building a total censorship and surveillance regime’Journalist Matt Taibbi has uncovered a “new thread” to Twitter’s suppression of the Hunter Biden laptop story, according to Sky News host James Morrow. “There was an attempt to cover up what Twitter did from within Twitter,” Mr Morrow said. “According to Taibbi, Baker inserted himself into the process of getting the documents to him and thus out to the wider world. He was censoring this guy Baker was deleting and holding back stuff before it was given for public consumption. “Investigative Journalist Jonathan Turley has connected the dots and found that not only was Baker key to the internal push within Twitter to smother the New York Post's Hunter Biden Laptop story in the weeks leading up to the 2020 election but a lot more besides.” Mr Morrow said Mr Turley’s conclusion is that Twitter, before Mr Musk took over, was “devoted to building a total censorship and surveillance regime”.

He said there seems to be an issue where “modern progressives simply cannot tolerate dissent” regarding such matters. “And it’s not just Twitter, unfortunately, … this is what really worries me, is that it’s infecting mainstream news organisations that claim to be non-partisan and impartial.”
