A 30-day grace period has begun for non-Twitter Blue subscribers to deactivate and optionally replace their text two-factor authentication method before it becomes permanently exclusive to Twitter Blue patrons.

took over the social media hub in 2022 in a multibillion dollar deal that ended employee’s remote work and put a price tag on the blue check and transform verification mechanisms for users.

The social media platform is back at the verge of the controversy after giving non-Twitter Blue subscribers a 30-day grace period to “remove text message two-factor authentication” and enrol in another method before the company disables this option permanently. Authentication apps and security keys will remain available for both Twitter Blue patrons and nonsubscribers for now. Other options would require downloading time-based one-time password apps or acquiring an external NFC security key device, a small portable device, similar to a pendrive.
