Three men were reportedly seen acting 'very suspiciously' near the flooded home of a Victorian family who had left their uninhabitable property to get rest and celebrate a birthday.

Channel 9 weatherman Tim Davies was on Monday in the suburb of Maribyrnong - which was inundated by floodwaters last week from the nearby swollen river - to report on the clean up efforts for the Today show.

Picture: David Caird "As I got out of the car, I saw one of these guys fly out of one of the homes behind me here ... they knew we were media and we're here to tell the stories and we had cameras to show what's happening here at the moment."

"The upper level where everything was safe, where they thought it was safe and dry has been completely ransacked," he said. Forensic officers were spotted entering the home hours later as they dusted for fingerprints and other clues to who was behind the break and enter.
