.TuriaPitt has opened up on the “confronting” moment she found some old photos of herself just days after she was burned in a fire during a 2011 ultramarathon in WA’s Kimberley region. 7NEWS
In a video posted to Instagram on Wednesday, Pitt spoke about uncovering a USB that contained images of her in hospital.“And then there was a folder with dates on the photos.“And the date of my accident was 2nd of September 2011.At that stage, Pitt was still in a coma - and was completely unaware of the devastation the fire had wreaked on her body.
Pitt went on to say she knew looking at the photographs would be a confronting moment, but she went ahead anyway. “Now, do you think I stepped back, took a couple of deep breaths, thought about it a little more, or do you think I just f****** double-clicked?” she said.“They were really confronting because I was swollen but parts of my skin that have now been grafted, they didn’t look like .“So I looked like half of what I used to look like, but half of what I look like now.
“There were photos of my hands where they were red, they were bloody, they were gory, they were partially amputated.”Pitt said she knew “deep down” she would need to call her psychologist after looking at the images.“She’s amazing. She came over, we sat down, and we looked at the photos together.”Turia Pitt and her family.
