Mitch Marsh has insisted it's too early to talk about his role in Australia's XI, after bashing his way to a brutal 118 off 118 balls to pull his side back into the third Ashes test at Headingley. 9News SEE MORE:
The Australians were in trouble at 4-85 when Marsh lumbered to the crease at Headingley, but what followed was a run-a-ball innings of 118 that set up the tourists for 263 all out.
"Mitch is only 31 so he's still got a few years left in him. I think because of the emergence of Cameron Green we've sort of forgotten a little bit about Mitch, but he might be one of those guys who matures a bit later in life as a cricketer," Taylor told Wide World of Sports. "Full marks to him for hanging in there for as long as he has as a Test cricketer and not giving it up and taking the easy option, which would have been going and playing one-day cricket and T20 cricket. He's wanted to keep playing Test cricket and he's been rewarded."There's no doubt that Cameron Green burst onto the scene, but he's only got the one Test hundred so far.
"Maybe he just needed a bit of luck, and he got that today when he was on 12, but after that he hit the ball like no one else.
