Former president Donald Trump has taken a brutal swipe at Joe Biden who officially announced he would seek a second term, but polls in America are opposing the 80-year-old running again.

In a video statement released following the President's announcement, Trump sought to link the Democrat with the potential for global war as well as repeating claims of corruption which have been a popular talking point following revelations about business dealings of one of Biden's sons."But I will say this, we're very close and they're only talking about nuclear weapons.

The former president also accused his successor of doing more to harm America than the combined efforts of the"five worst Presidents in American history." President Biden is currently 80 and will turn 82 by the end of his current term in office. If he wins the 2024 election he would not leave the White House until after his 86th birthday, extending his lead as the oldest President in history.Trump is also advancing in years, but even at 76 he is considered by some political experts to be mentally fitter than his successor.

"If I can't join the army at 58, I don't think he should run the country at 80," she told Sky News Australia. However, there is also an acknowledgement from Democratic voters that the party lacks another strong candidate in what is shaping as a fight against Donald Trump.
