Now to the details of the indictment. The details released so far relate to hush-money payments which prosecutors claim were part of a “conspiracy to undermine the integrity of the 2016 election”.
Along with the $US130,000 payment, prosecutors allege that Trump paid $US30,000 to a doorman at Trump Tower and $US150,000 to another woman who alleged she had sex with the former president. The date for the next hearing in this matter was set for December 4, 2023. Trump’s lawyers have asked if he could excuse from attending on that date due to the security precautions needed for him to attend.More details are emerging from the hearing.
“What kind of person can charge another person, in this case, a former president of the United States, who got more votes than any sitting president in history, and leading candidate for the Republican Party nomination, with a crime, when it is known by all that NO crime has been committed, & also that potential death & destruction in such a false charge could be catastrophic for our country?” Trump wrote.
